Carrer de Nàpols

Located close to the Sagrada Familia in the Barcelona district of Eixample, this narrow building occupies a prominent spot next to a junction. Inhabiting the remains of a building left unfi nished in the 2000s, the structure responds to the oblique shape of the ground plan with a curtain wall system that folds inwards and outwards, providing shade to an underlying glass facade. It not only emulates but further enriches Barcelona’s playful architecture. The building’s characteristic ceramic panels with horizontal grooves evoke the classic fabric awnings that grace Spanish windows and balconies. Loggias lie concealed behind the facade panels. An extensive communal rooftop terrace with a pool and views of the old town also features.
